Study Abroad Scholarship for UMD Pell Grant Students

Are you a UMD Pell Grant student and considering studying abroad?

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship awards up to $5000 to help fund study abroad opportunities for UMD Pell Grant Students.

The application deadline for spring 2016 is October 6th.

Eligibility requirements: 

• U.S. Citizens
• Pell Grant recipients
• Applying for a study abroad program that is at least 4 weeks long. 

This is a highly competitive scholarship which does require advanced planning with Education Abroad and the National Scholarships Office, so qualified students should:

1) Meet with an Education Abroad Regional Advisor to plan their study abroad for spring 2016

2) Schedule an advising meeting with the National Scholarships Office for guidance in creating a strong application. To schedule an appointment, contact Dr. Leslie Brice (lbrice@umd.edu)
