UMD PhD Alum Seeking Undergrad RA

Seeking a part-time research assistant to support a project involving the exploration of historical sources at the National Archives in College Park. No specific previous experience required. The work is related to research projects in economic history, one related to US war production during the Second World War and another related to research and development conducted at NASA. 
 
The successful candidate will devote between 50 and 100 hours in total during the summer to the project, with the advantage of a flexible schedule. Pay is at standard research assistant rates ($25 per hour). The main tasks include locating relevant historical sources at the national archives and scanning them. The position offers an excellent opportunity for students interested in gaining research experience, including specialized knowledge of archival research.

Part-Time Jobs Meetup


All UMD students (new and returning) looking for a part-time job for the fall and/or spring semester are invited to the Part-Time Jobs Meetup on Friday, August 30, 2019, from noon - 2pm in the Atrium on the 1st floor of the Adele H. Stamp Student Union.

This is an informal event where students will have the opportunity to meet and talk with on-campus offices and local off-campus businesses seeking to hire students for part-time jobs.

The casual format allows students to come and go from the event as their schedule allows.

Students are strongly encouraged to bring copies of their resumes and class schedule.

Summer Jobs, Fund for the Public Interest

PAID SUMMER JOBS FOR ACTIVISTS! Avg pay of $11-17/hr

The Fund is a national non-profit organization that runs campaigns for some of the nation’s most prominent social change and environmental organizations. This summer, the Fund for the Public Interest is hiring paid campaign staff to go out and build public support for critical environmental and public health campaigns. In College Park, we are working with Environment Maryland to reduce pollution and protect local wildlife by passing a statewide ban on plastic grocery bags! We will also work with MARYPIRG to protect public health by banning Round Up.

We are looking for staff who communicate well, are ready to work hard, and want to make positive social change! If you are interested in hearing more, you should fill out your info here!

Our staff gain first-hand experience in grassroots organizing, learn valuable communication skills, and have the opportunity to participate in a variety of campaign actions including: running media events, petitioning, canvassing, fundraising, and writing letters to the editor, all while being paid as members of our staff. The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) is seeking instructors and teaching assistants for our summer programs. CTY offers challenging academic programs for highly talented elementary, middle, and high school students from across the country and around the world. Positions are available at residential and day sites at colleges, universities, and schools on the East and West coasts, as well as internationally in Hong Kong.
