We are currently seeking a Research Assistant to join our Education Program in our Washington, DC (Georgetown) office.
Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will provide support on several large-scale international studies, for example, the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) and the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS). The person will assist with the development, production, and dissemination of high-quality, timely, and reliable statistical reports and data tools on education topics, as well as assist with projects monitoring data quality and other research projects. The Research Assistant will be expected to do research on topics pertaining to international and comparative education, review and draft reports and correspondence, revise manuscripts in response to editorial and technical comments, assist in data collection and documentation, enter and verify accuracy of data, produce basic statistical analyses, develop presentations for professional audiences, and support implementation of education-related applied research or technical assistance projects.
Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor's degree in education, economics, statistics, public policy, psychology, sociology, or a related field, and basic research experience. An outstanding academic record, excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and proficiency within the Microsoft Office environment required. Our desired candidate will be familiar with quantitative research methods and data analysis; be comfortable reviewing and producing data tables; possess effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; have excellent organizational and time management skills; and have an interest in education research at the national or international levels. Proficiency in SPSS, Stata, or R a plus.
