Achyuta Adhvaryu, a professor of Business Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, is looking for a research coordinator to manage various aspects of his research portfolio. His main research interest is in development economics. In the past he has conducted research on the impacts of soft skills training for women and the impacts of environmental factors such as heat and pollution on worker productivity, both in the garment sector in India. He is also co-founder and research director at an India based non-profit – the Good Business Lab (GBL, www.goodbusinesslab.org ) – which focuses on building the business case for firms to invest in worker welfare.
Responsibilities:
- Designing prospective interventions, surveys, and administering research study-associated activities
- Project planning and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Performing high frequency data quality checks, data cleaning, and preliminary data analysis
- Human subjects protocols
- Assisting in the formation and writing of grant proposals
- Coordinating project calls with co-authors across several project teams based in the US and India
- Undergraduate degree in economics, public policy, or related fields (Masters preferred)
- Excellent command over STATA (additional knowledge of technical software packages preferred)
- Ability to work well in a team, manage multiple projects, and be self-motivated
- Ideal candidate should in addition to the above requirements be conscientious (hard working, very organized and punctual), have excellent writing skills, and be intellectually curious (be genuinely interested in development either from the research or policy perspective, or both)
