Students: Register by December 15.
All UMD students (from any major or year) are invited to participate!
Are you creative? Analytical? Have a knack for solving complex problems? The UMD Data Challenge (DC20) is an annual week-long competition held by the University of Maryland, where students across colleges and programs solve real-world problems using data from organizations such as Amazon Web Services and the National Cancer Institute.
- Team up with other UMD students
- Select a dataset provided by one of our sponsoring organizations
- Use your creativity and analytical skills to solve a problem
- Work with an industry mentor
- Compete for exciting prizes
Or, be a DC20 Student Volunteer!
- Get hands-on experience behind the scenes helping the DC20 teams
- Build your organizational, networking, and leadership skills
- Enhance your resume with volunteer and teamwork experience
- PLUS enjoy free meals and a sporty volunteer t-shirt!
- Students from all UMD programs may volunteer
Participants compete in teams up to a maximum of 4 members. All participants must register individually by December 15. Starting January 30, 2020, participants will have the opportunity to register for a team. Don’t have a team? We have you covered! There will be a Team Building Event on February 7 for a chance to meet other students and form a team.
Once maximum registration is reached, you will be put on a wait-list. Wait-listed students are not guaranteed participation. So register early, as this event fills up quickly!
Participants must be present on the UMCP campus both February 22 (Kick-off Event) and February 29 (Presentation and Judging Event) from 9am-5pm.
