U.S. Treasury Department Fellow Program
The Office of Debt Management of the U.S. Treasury Department invites application for its Fellow Program. Position will involve data analysis, programming with Matlab and VBA on optimization and pricing issues, assisting with tasks in portfolio management, security design and market analysis, and documenting internal procedures.
Assignment Period:
One year. The Office may extend it for another year.
Requirements:
(1) A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or Engineering;
(2) Strong data, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
(3) Programming experience with Matlab and VBA; (4) U.S. citizenship.
Knowledge of fixed income math desirable.

EXST 150: Law School Boot Camp
The first year of law school is the most stressful and most important year
for firm hiring prospects. Students will be introduced to the eight introductory
courses that are taught in most ABA approved law schools in a stress free

Chinese Language and Culture - Study/Scholarship Opportunity in Taiwan, August 6 through August 24, 2012
National Central University, Taiwan, and the University of Maryland, College Park, are offering five (5) scholarships including free tuition, room and meals, and airfare for students strongly motivated to take part in a three (3) week Chinese Language and Culture course. The three (3) week course will include classes in Chinese, field trips to museums and other cultural sites. Undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Maryland are eligible. The course will be taught by lecturers from NCU's Language Center and will include students from Europe and the United States as well as East Asia.

Participants Needed for fMRI Study
The University of Maryland Center for Advanced Study of
Language (CASL)
invites students at the University of Maryland, College Park
to participate in a 2011-2012 study examining people’s descriptions of how they
behave with different types of people. Participants will be asked a series of
questions while researchers record their brain activity using functional
magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).
Research participants must be 18 to 35 years of age, be
native speakers of English, have normal or corrected-to-normal vision, be
right-handed, and been born and raised in the United States. Research
participants should NOT have any: metal implants or other metal that cannot be
removed (including permanent retainers), personal history of neurological and
psychological disorders, learning disabilities, or possibility of pregnancy.
Compensation: $20 per hour for up to approximately 2.5 hours.
Location: Maryland Neuroimaging Center.

ORISE Research Fellowship Opportunity with the U.S. EPA’s National Center for Environmental Economics, Washington, DC
EPA's National Center for Environmental Economics (NCEE) is accepting applications for temporary Research Assistant positions through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Research Participation/Internship Program for the U.S. EPA. NCEE is EPA's center of expertise for cutting-edge research and analysis in environmental economics (www.epa.gov/economics) and supporting science. Deadline for initial application is Friday, June 8, 2012.
Applicants should be in or have recently completed (within five years) an undergraduate degree program in economics or a related field. This may include natural or physical science fields that provide information used in economic analysis. Applicants must have high academic standing and an interest in applied environmental economics research.
Duties are expected to include providing support for NCEE staff economists and scientists in their research and related activities, including conducting thorough literature searches and providing scientific input to be used by staff in peer reviewed publications, research reports, working papers, and presentations. Tasks also include the collection, organization and verification of data using standard analytical techniques. The participant will also assist in the review of analyses of the benefits and costs of environmental regulations. The participant will assist in analyses and research efforts on benefit-cost research and techniques, economic impact models and measures, and market incentive mechanisms. The individual also will assist in the production of new studies, coordinated with other NCEE staff and EPA program offices.

Internship Opportunity at the National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders
Be a DC summer intern that makes a difference and gain valuable work experience in the nonprofit/association field, and public policy sector. The National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders (NAAHL) represents America’s lenders in moving private capital to those in need, 80 organizations committed to increasing lending and investing private capital in low- and moderate-income (LMI) communities. This “who’s who” of private sector lenders and investors includes major banks, blue-chip non-profit lender CDFIs, and others in the vanguard of affordable housing. Interns will work side by side with association professionals as they help advance NAAHL’s affordable housing and community development mission.
NAAHL seeks a college/university student who is interested in a summer internship. The internship will be for approximately two months (June-August), depending on the student’s academic schedule. The intern’s daily schedule can be flexible within normal business hours, Monday – Friday. The internship is located in Washington, D.C. and is unpaid. A public transit stipend is offered for the duration of the internship. While the internship may be of special interest to business, economics, journalism, and political science majors, all students are welcome to apply.
The intern will work closely with NAAHL staff on a number of tasks that will help advance their careers. Previous summer interns have assisted in writing press releases and letters, attended Congressional hearings and industry meetings, and helped conduct online research projects of financial regulators.
Other intern duties include:
· Editing documents for the CEO and COO
· Compiling data in Excel spreadsheets
· Filing/data entry
· Front desk coverage, including answering the phones and greeting guests
· Other duties as assigned
Because of the crucial role interns play in our organization, we ask that applicants have excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work independently on multiple projects. Good judgment and significant knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is also a must. Other technical skills, including multimedia and social media are preferred but not required.
