Since 1974, the AEA Summer Training Program (AEASP) and Scholarship Program have increased diversity by preparing undergraduates for doctoral programs in economics and related disciplines.
Michigan State University is honored to have been selected as the 12^th university to host the program beginning in June 2016. AEASP offers talented undergraduates seriously considering post-graduate studies in economics, the opportunity to develop and solidify their math and other technical skills to enable them to successfully meet the high demands of academically challenging doctoral programs.

UMD Noyce Scholars Program

The UMD Noyce Scholars Program is currently recruiting undergraduate students for two different scholarships programs.

The first is the Noyce Scholars Program which offers $14,000 to junior and senior students who major in a STEM field and are interested in pursuing teaching after college.

The second is the Noyce Internship Program which offers $2,700 - $3,000 to rising sophomores and juniors who major in a STEM field and are interested in working in education over the summer

Summer Analyst Internship at the New York Fed

Summer Analyst Internships at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York

The Summer Analyst Internship program provides undergraduates an opportunity to learn about and contribute to the work done by the Research and Statistics Group. Over the course of the summer, our economists-whose specialties include banking and payment systems, capital markets, international economics, macroeconomics, and microeconomics-work closely with Summer Analysts on long-term, academically orientated research projects as well as current public policy work.

In addition to their daily responsibilities, summer analysts attend events and weekly presentations hosted by senior management. These presentations provide a broad and extensive overview of the Bank's responsibilities and operations. As well as serving as a prime learning opportunity for undergraduates interested in economic research, the summer analyst program also establishes a strong pool of candidates for recruitment into the full-time Research Analyst position at the FRBNY upon graduation.

We seek candidates who have records of superior scholarship and academic curiosity. Summer Analysts usually come from strong economics, policy, mathematics, or computer science backgrounds, though a major in one of these fields is not a necessity. Successful candidates often have previous research experience, and many are considering careers in economic research, public policy, or other related fields.

In addition, we seek candidates from a wide range of backgrounds that are typically underrepresented in economics. It is important to us that we succeed in recruiting a diverse cohort of summer analysts each year. Thus we encourage many students with varying experiences and backgrounds to apply.

Research Analyst Position for December or Recent Grad with EMPEA

EMPEA is the global industry association for private capital in emerging markets. EMPEA is seeking an entry-level, full time Research Analyst to support its efforts to produce industry statistics and research content for private equity practitioners, institutional investors and related stakeholders. 2016 Introduction to Diversity in Doctoral Education and Scholarship program at the Wharton School of UPenn

As Vice Dean of Wharton Doctoral Programs it is my pleasure to announce the 4th annual Introduction to Diversity inDoctoral Education and Scholarship (IDDEAS) program hosted at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

IDDEAS is a two-day program, April 7-8, 2016, introducing outstanding undergraduates to the field of business academia and research. The aim of IDDEAS is to create a diverse doctoral student environment and, in turn, a diverse faculty population.

I’d like to share a reflection from one of last year’s IDDEAS participants:

“IDDEAS was intellectually stimulating. I had the opportunity to learn more about what it really means to be on the journey to become the next academic leader and how to get there -- learning how to ask the bigger questions and being at the forefront of knowledge creation. Research Assistant Job Opportunities at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston

Research assistants at the Boston Fed typically work for one or two economists, independently performing data collection, statistical and econometric analysis, literature reviews, and writing assignments. Typical work involves conducting economic research for policy memos and for articles to appear in academic journals, Boston Fed publications, and business periodicals. Research assistants support economists whose research interests are wide-ranging and include macroeconomics, international and labor economics, housing, health decisions, behavioral economics and finance. The Research Department also houses two research centers: The Consumer Payments Research Center, which conducts quantitative and qualitative research to evaluate consumer payment behaviors and their impacts on the payment system, and the New England Public Policy Center, which promotes better public policy in New England by conducting and disseminating objective, high-quality research and analysis of regional economic and policy issues. We offer an exciting opportunity to engage in innovative research in an academic, supportive atmosphere.

We are seeking self-motivated individuals with demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills. Specifically, we are looking for applicants who:

• possess an excellent academic record with extensive coursework in economics. Mathematics, statistics and computer science or finance will also be considered

• demonstrate the ability to work independently within strict time constraints

The research assistant position requires a two-year commitment, although some research assistants choose to stay an additional year.
