The grant is funded through OES and is designed to provide need-based aid to students who otherwise could not afford to enroll in summer courses. The amount of funding available each year is at OES discretion and is limited.
Awarding:
The following is the awarding criteria:
- Undergraduate, degree-seeking University of Maryland College Park seniors and juniors are given first consideration, then sophomores, then freshmen
- Students must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average
- The student must have exhausted all other sources of aid including federal loans (Stafford and Perkins, if available)
- Students must demonstrate need; with students with the lowest income and greatest unmet need having first priority
- Students must be enrolled for at least 3 credits or more
- Students with merit aid or other institutional aid are given last priority
Students are awarded up to $1,000 for the entire summer term (summer I and summer II combined).
