Paid International Development Research Internships for Recent Grads

IMPAQ is seeking Research Interns who will provide support across a broad range of activities including data analysis, program assessments, project monitoring and evaluation, business development and proposal coordination, operations, survey deisgn, technical recruiting, project management, and other technical tasks within its International Development Division, in areas including, but not limited to: economic growth, democracy and governance, education, health, civil society, agriculture, food security, land tenure, natural resources management, energy, workforce development and child labor.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a part-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Provide operational, technical, and administrative backstopping for IMPAQ’s International Development portfolio.
  • Lead literature reviews of technical and professional publications.
  • Contributes to the creation and maintenance of high quality institutional proposal material, including organizational qualifications, developing technical skills matrices, customizing CVs, creating infographics and charts, budgets, and contributing to technical narratives.
  • Support members of the ID team in creating customized and presentation-quality reports from data analysis results.
  • Support the ID team in writing, compiling, and editing assigned portions of project reports and portions of technical proposals.
  • Conduct research, gather intelligence, support preparation and coordination of technical proposals, support international recruitment, and other Business Development-related activities.
  • Contribute to and advance IMPAQ's international reputation as a leading research, evaluation, and technical assistance firm.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, International Affairs, Political Science or similar field required.
  • Relevant field experience in a developing country context highly desired.
  • Relevant prior experience working in an international development for-profit or non-profit desired.
  • Experience in proposal preparation, particularly for USAID, USDA, DOL ILAB, MCC desired.
  • Experience and knowledge of data analysis and data management techniques using SAS, SPSS, STATA, Access, Excel, and/or other databases is desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
  • Advanced expertise in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Foreign Language skills, particularly French, highly desired.
