Seeking a mature and hardworking college student interested in an internship with the Strategic Research team based in the Washington, DC office. Internship is for 10-15 hours / week during the 2015-2016 school year.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain data integrity of financial and property datasets in Excel
• Assist with market sizing and customer segmentation of business lines to identify key opportunities and recommendations for growth
• Monitor competitive landscape and update competitive intelligence metrics and profile of key competitors
• Assist Strategic Research Manager with annual market share assessment through data collection, cleanup, and analysis of findings

Requirements:
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree with excellent academic credentials
• Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information and translate into strategic deliverables
• Advanced internet research capabilities
• Strong computer orientation and proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word software is required
• Excellent written and oral communication skills (applicant will need to submit previous work product)
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, but be an active member of small cohesive team

Market Research Internship with Edelman Berland

Edelman Berland is the strategic research arm of Edelman – the world’s largest privately owned PR firm.  

We are seeking a highly motivated, hardworking individual who is interested in learning the ins and outs of market research (both qualitative and quantitative). Candidates must be naturally curious and have a passion for understanding human behavior while becoming an expert with our tools of measurement, customized surveys and communities.

Responsibilities: 

§ Support Edelman Berland analysts on a wide variety of research projects

§ Compile, synthesize and analyze research collected from secondary sources

§ Quality control measures for survey links and presentation documents

Two Full-Time Paid Internships with National Democratic Institute Eurasia Team

The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking candidates to work in Washington, D.C. as full-time interns for the Eurasia team. There are two openings to support programs in Central Asia and the Caucasus, available immediately

Primary Responsibilities:

§ Under close supervision of a desk officer, senior program manager or other individual in authority within the team:

§ Participate in discussions with field offices of upcoming activities and support needs;

§ Provide administrative support on assigned country projects, to ensure compliance with donor requirements. This could include assisting with writing memos and coordinating with NDI’s administrative departments, organizing and maintaining an electronic filing system,  organizing travel arrangements, and routing contracts or invoices. 

§ Assist in compiling information for drafting of periodic donor reports or workplans;

§ Assist in tracking program expenditures;

§ Attend relevant meetings and seminars on topics pertaining to political developments in the region and prepare oral and written presentations for team members;

§ Collect and distribute foreign and domestic newspaper, magazine, and/or academic articles pertaining to programs in the region;

§ Complete special projects as needed; and

§ Additional responsibilities based on demonstrated ability could include: proposal drafting and editing, program development, and donor relations.

Internship for Recent Grad with ACE Higher Education for Development

Position: BMENA Internship – 28 hours per week for 12 Weeks

The American Council on Education’s (ACE) Higher Education for Development (HED) seeks an intern, to work with HED’s Broader Middle East and North Africa (BMENA) team and various other teams as needed. This internship will provide opportunities to develop and apply professional skills necessary to work with international development projects related to higher education partnerships around the world. The intern will gain practical knowledge about international development, program design and management, and award closeout.

Fall Internships with the Center for Effective Government

We are looking for interns who want to join us in advocating for a robust regulatory system to protect the health and well-being of the American people; a government that proactively discloses useful information to citizens so they can safeguard the well-being of their families and communities; and a transparent and effective budget process that generates sustainable investments in America and our quality of life.  Internship responsibilities vary but may involve:

• Policy Research & Analysis – Monitor and evaluate critical public policy issues.
• Communications & Media – Assist with writing and editing blog posts, newsletters, and social media.
• Legislative and Agency Monitoring – Monitor the progress of legislation in Congress and the actions of federal agencies.
• Outreach & Media – Work with coalition partners at the national, state, and local levels to support our policy areas.

Study Abroad Scholarship for UMD Pell Grant Students

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship awards up to $5000 to help fund study abroad opportunities for UMD Pell Grant Students.

The application deadline for spring 2016 is October 6th.

Eligibility requirements:

• Applying for a study abroad program that is at least 4 weeks long. 

This is a highly competitive scholarship which does require advanced planning with Education Abroad and the National Scholarships Office, so qualified students should:

1) Meet with an Education Abroad Regional Advisor to plan their study abroad for spring 2016
