Support economists and statisticians in all service areas for a variety of Federal and private-sector clients. Work performed will include:
Production of exhibits (tables and graphs) for research reports and business proposals.
Data entry and coding.
Gathering data from federal, state, and local government sources, and private and academic.
Maintaining and updating Excel spreadsheets and statistical programs.
Creating statistical programs for new data and research.
Conducting literature reviews and research regulatory documents.
Upon completion of at least two years of work experience AND a graduate degree, research assistants are reviewed for promotion to staff economist or statistician positions.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Training in econometrics or mathematical statistics.
- Highly proficient in Excel.
- Experience with statistical computer software, such as SAS, Stata, and R.
- Strong attention to detail and neatness, and ability to create production quality work.
- Precise data analysis skills.
- Strong writing skills.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a group.
- Able to juggle multiple projects and responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, political science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, or a social science or quantitative discipline is required. Applicant must submit unofficial university transcripts and a writing sample when applying.
