Strategic Planning Internship with the Center for Strategic and International Studies

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe. 

JOB SUMMARY:

CSIS seeks an intern to support the Strategic Planning office. The Strategic Planning team helps raise revenue for CSIS and maintains institutional corporate and foundation donor relationships. We work closely with the programs to strengthen their fundraising efforts, prospect new donors for corporate membership and project support, and write and review proposals for contributions. This internship will work closely with each member of the Strategic Planning team by supporting the team in all of these main functions. 

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Developing strategy documents for seeking out new corporate funding
• Drafting briefing materials for CSIS executives
• Helping staff run one-on-one briefings between CSIS experts and high-level donors
• Preparing acknowledgment letters to thank donors for their contributions to the Center
• Reviewing and editing proposals to corporate and foundation donors
• Updating donor information in CSIS databases
• Managing event emails to corporate members 


Requirements:

• Must be a college junior, graduate student, or a recent graduate
• Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Interest in fundraising, organizational management, and/or relationship management
• Ability to work independently
