The Aspen Economic Strategy Group (AESG) gathers a diverse, bipartisan group of distinguished leaders and thinkers with the goal of developing evidence-based solutions to significant structural challenges in the U.S. economy. Co-chaired by Henry M. Paulson, Jr. and Erskine Bowles, the AESG fosters the exchange of economic policy ideas and seeks to clarify the lines of debate on emerging economic issues while promoting bipartisan relationship-building among current and future generations of policy leaders in Washington.
Basic Function:
The ESG is seeking an intern who is motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, and a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills. This internship will include policy research, including drafting summaries of issues and policies; communication efforts; coordinating meeting logistics under the guidance of program staff; and providing general administrative program support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will work under the guidance of the deputy director to support the following activities:
- Conference Planning
-Assist in planning and executing a public event that will take place in early December. Responsibilities may include preparing agendas, monitoring event registrations, assisting with participant communications and travel logistics, and managing speaking program. - Writing and Editing
-Draft email communications to event participants and speakers
-Create written materials for public events.
-Support program staff with document formatting, printing, copying, and other administrative tasks. - Communications
-Assist with formatting and distributing communications such as e-newsletters with program members
-Support the program with website updates, drafting and updating content as needed
-Assist with scheduling calls amongst team and program members
-Prepare meeting agendas for team-meetings and take notes during meetings and call
- College senior in a field related to policy, economics, history, or government;
- Outstanding organizational skills, with emphasis on time-management, attention to detail and the ability to plan, organize and carry out multiple activities;
- Strong writing skills;
- Strong communications skills, including ability to conduct online research and analysis;
- Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint;
- Team player who can also work individually and be a self-starter;
- Prior experience in a professional setting;
- Knowledge of and adherence to professional ethics.
