Financial Modeler

JOB INFORMATION
 
Using mathematical models drawn from Economics, Statistics, probability theory, or pure mathematics, develop models of how existing or possible assets, products, derivatives, or markets might behave under varying conditions. Develop methods consistent with pertinent discipline for assessing the effects of different variables acting on the asset or market being examined. May develop tests or standards for judging the accuracy or predictive powers of the models being developed. May confer with capital market or product specialists to determine needs for analysis or to acquire empirical data to use in model building or validation. 
 
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
 
Confer with business unit, risk management or other corporate office to determine what asset, transaction, process, or capital segment is to be subject to analysis using a model. May acquire data for use in developing and/or testing the model.
 
Develop/refine/test model using established quantitative methods. Run against data provided by business unit or extracted from appropriate database.
 
Using existing quantitative model or develop new model, to project performance of hybrid financial instruments such as derivatives. Apply model to empirical data from such assets and refine as needed.
 
Define requirements for new functionality, provide prototype code and test results to assist Common Analytics Platform (CAP) in implementing new and refining existing valuation methods.
 
Research financial model operating results for a particular business unit, product line and the like; provide data support and propose explanations for valuation models and changes over time.
 
Research and recommend the usage of financial tool kit functions (curve building, derivatives schedule generation and consult with other modelers, financial engineers and management staff regarding the use of these tools

The Opportunity:

Fannie Mae will be hiring recent graduates for a unique training program opportunity. This program will offer select candidates a robust training opportunity to learn programming in the SAS language and an opportunity to develop analytical skills through research assignments and report generation. Participants will also receive training from the top PhDs in the industry on applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Unix, Oracle, and SQL. Using these tools and through hands-on experience and interaction with the best professionals in the business, training program participants will gain a strong understanding of the mortgage industry in the areas of automated underwriting, property valuation and credit pricing.

Fannie Mae is seeking students with a variety of majors including liberal arts, economics, and business who have an interest in learning and gaining practical training in economic modeling. We look for demonstrated academic success with evidence of a strong performance in a technical or mathematical class, research project or work experience. We look for highly motivated self-starters who can effectively contribute to a team atmosphere and have demonstrated leadership qualities through extracurricular activities. Applicants should also possess superior communication skills and a goals-oriented mindset. No previous computer or business training or experience is required.

World Business Lenders - Credit Officer

The candidate will be trained in four disciplines where s/he will spend two to three months in each rotation. The above mentioned disciplines include roles within Loan Processing, Credit Review, Loss Mitigation and Credit Analysis departments of the company. Initially, the candidate will research, processes and analyze loan applications. Job responsibilities include working with Sales Officers to obtain borrower information and working with the Operations team to prepare the loan package. In time, the Credit Analyst is expected to attend the Investment Committee and present loan recommendations to the CEO and the Investment Managers.

Furthermore, the candidate will:
1. Analyze credit risk for loan applications,
2. Detect potential fraud

The policy team at Business Forward provides commentary and analysis for developments inside and outside Washington. As a policy intern, you will be able to research and gain experience in a number of different issue areas, while looking at each from the perspective of business owners. The policy intern will work closely with the rest of the team in conducting research and creating content.
