The Opportunity:

Fannie Mae will be hiring recent graduates for a unique training program opportunity. This program will offer select candidates a robust training opportunity to learn programming in the SAS language and an opportunity to develop analytical skills through research assignments and report generation. Participants will also receive training from the top PhDs in the industry on applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Unix, Oracle, and SQL. Using these tools and through hands-on experience and interaction with the best professionals in the business, training program participants will gain a strong understanding of the mortgage industry in the areas of automated underwriting, property valuation and credit pricing.

Fannie Mae is seeking students with a variety of majors including liberal arts, economics, and business who have an interest in learning and gaining practical training in economic modeling. We look for demonstrated academic success with evidence of a strong performance in a technical or mathematical class, research project or work experience. We look for highly motivated self-starters who can effectively contribute to a team atmosphere and have demonstrated leadership qualities through extracurricular activities. Applicants should also possess superior communication skills and a goals-oriented mindset. No previous computer or business training or experience is required.

Research Analyst Training Program participants will work in our Washington, D.C. Offices. Selected candidates will be exposed to and gain an understanding of the housing industry, including:

· The U.S. housing policy and its impact on homeownership
· The fixed-income capital markets for mortgage securities and other products
· Application of computer models in the forecasting of consumer behavior and real estate markets

This paid training program is for a three-month period where the participants will work together on a Fannie Mae mortgage research project. At the end of the program, there may be opportunity for a permanent assignment based upon your demonstrated abilities and skills during the training period. Permanent employees may receive paid graduate education in economics, statistics, finance or related disciplines.
