UMD sophomores, juniors and seniors are invited to apply to serve on the 2016-17 UMD Diversity Advisory Council (DAC).

The DAC, which is chaired by Dr. Kumea Shorter-Gooden (Chief Diversity Officer and Associate Vice President), is comprised of UMD students (undergraduate and graduate), staff, and faculty. The DAC advises Dr. Shorter-Gooden on implementation of UMD’s Strategic Plan for Diversity and on strategies to create and sustain a campus that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. (To see the Strategic Plan for Diversity and for info on the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, go to diversity.umd.edu).

In 2016-17 the DAC will meet on: Sept. 26th from 9:30 -11am, Nov. 29th from 9:30 -11 am, Feb. 8th from 1:30-3 pm, and April 27th from 1:30-3 pm. Members are expected to attend most of the meetings.

Students will be selected based on their commitment and leadership with respect to equity, diversity and inclusion. They will not be selected to represent a specific group or organization, but rather to advise on behalf of the campus as a whole. Student members must be in good academic standing.

To apply, complete the following by Friday, Sept. 16th. You will be notified by Sept. 21st. Please apply here.
