This academic-focused summer internship, beginning in June 2015, is an
opportunity for undergraduate students in their junior or senior year or
graduate students with an interest in education, international development and
other related fields to apply principles and theory learned in the classroom in
a professional environment.
This internship pays an hourly rate of $10.50, and applicants must be
willing to commit to 32-40 hours per week during regular business hours, with
some flexibility around an academic course schedule. The internship is based in
Washington, D.C. and will last 10 weeks, concluding mid-August.
Primary Responsibilities
Students will work closely with the Director of CUE and their team on a
research project that focuses on new models of education for the developing
world. The student will help investigate key questions for the project and can
assist with a large range of tasks, including reviewing relevant research,
reading and summarizing new reports on related topics, attending events and
reporting back, managing citations, helping draft blog posts and make
PowerPoint presentations, create data visualizations, and assist in other
duties as needed.
Education/Knowledge/Skills
Graduate or undergraduate student (who has completed their sophomore year)
working towards a degree in a relevant field (i.e. international relations,
public policy, international development, education, political
science, economics).
The intern will need a wide variety of research skills including being able to
find, read, summarize and synthesize research from a variety of fields. Strong
writing skills, ability to accomplish tasks efficiently without supervision, to
collaborate with others, and willingness to learn required. Proficiency with
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel required, data analysis experience and
knowledge of analysis software like STATA, SPSS and R a plus.
