The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the federal agency responsible for the safety and effectiveness of food, drugs, medical devices, biological products, tobacco products, animal drugs, animal food, and cosmetics. This internship is with the Economics Staff, Office of the Commissioner of Food and drugs. The intern will report to the Director of the Economics Staff.
The internship may be either part-time or full-time; for students working part-time, the position will typically require 2 work days per week. We are looking for summer interns, as well as, fall interns.
The duties of the intern include assisting supervisory economists in tracking and reviewing projects of the Economics staff and in communicating the results to senior FDA management. These projects range from investigations of price or availability of FDA-regulated products to rapid responses to economic questions from Congress and the Department of Health and Human Services. The intern will assist the staff as needed to plan briefings on research projects, review work products, and assist staff economists in conducting economics analyses of FDA policies and actions.
