BRIGHT FUTURES APPLICATION DEADLINE: MONDAY, APRIL 25 @ 5 P.M.
The Bright Futures 'Unpaid Internship' Scholarship awards
students with need-based scholarships ranging from $250-$1,250 to help offset expenses
incurred during unpaid internships.
If you are an undergraduate student who has secured an unpaid summer
2016 internship with a non-profit organization or government agency,
you are eligible to apply. Additional eligibility details are provided below.
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES
All registered University of Maryland, College Park
undergraduate students returning to campus for the fall 2016 semester, who have
an unpaid internship for summer 2016, are eligible to apply. Graduating seniors
(May 2016 & August 2016) are not eligible. Preference will be given to
juniors and seniors graduating in December 2016. Preference will also be given
to those who have not previously received this scholarship.
In order for your
internship to qualify for funding support, it must satisfy the following
criteria:
1. Unpaid on-campus or off-campus internship with a
non-profit organization or government agency.
2. Offered during the summer and completed by Friday, August
26, 2016.
3. Supervised by a professional in the field.
TO APPLY (DEADLINE:
MONDAY, APRIL 25 @ 5 P.M.)
1. Complete the scholarship program application form by
Monday, April 25 at 5 p.m. The application will be available at go.umd.edu/bfs16
the morning of Monday, April 4th.
2. Have your internship supervisor complete and submit the
Supervisor Statement of Agreement form to Erica Ely (eely@umd.edu). Students
will receive this form via email when your application has been received. This
email can take up to 48 hours to send. The Supervisor Agreement form MUST be
submitted by your supervisor to Erica Ely. Forms submitted by students will not
be accepted.
The Bright Futures 'Unpaid Internship' Scholarship is
generously funded by a grant from The President's Fearless Fund and receives
ongoing significant support from the University Career Center & The
President's Promise.
