Summary of Responsibilities:

Project Associate Job with Dexis Consulting Group for Senior or Recent Grad

About the Position
Dexis is seeking a Project Associate to be part of our Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team supporting the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Office of Western Hemisphere Programs (INL/WHP) at the Department of State (DOS). Under the current task order Dexis works to develop M&E policies and procedures, including performance measures and an M&E data management system, using both domestic staff based in Washington, D.C. and M&E Specialists at Embassy Posts throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The work location for this position will be in Washington, DC. This is a full-time position that will:

Responsibilities
  • Provide operations assistance to project staff, and backstop country and DC-based programs
  • Assist in contract compliance and tracking financials, including budget and expenses.
  • Review expense reports and subcontractor invoices.
  • Recruit project staff and consultants, write scopes of work, and engage directly with consultants.
  • Research new business development opportunities in capture efforts.
  • Provide direct support to live business development opportunities, writing past performance sections, staffing and workplans.
  • Manage small proposal efforts including liaising with potential staff and partners
  • Liaise with payroll providers in Latin America and the Caribbean
  • When requested, conduct literature and desk reviews for evaluations, support development of data collection instruments and provide technical support to field teams.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • One (1) year of experience working in an international development environment.
  • Understanding of USG procurement and compliance regulations.
  • Skills in budget development and financial tracking using Microsoft Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a social science, international development, public policy or related field.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Ability to travel overseas, when requested
Preferred Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and GovWin is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Experience in grant writing and proposal development.

The Hate-Bias Response Program has a new name—Bias Incident Support Services (BISS for short). But what you probably don't know yet is that BISS director Neijma Celestine-Donnor is offering virtual check-in hours to provide support, advocacy and guidance for those impacted by hate-bias incidents.

"Unfortunately, the switch to virtual learning and working during COVID-19 has also seen an increase in online hate-bias incidents," Celestine-Donnor says. "BISS wants our campus community to know that we are here for them and we want to ensure that impacted parties receive ongoing and continued support."

The Alumni Association Scholarship application is now open. Applications must be submitted by April 19, 2020. Scholarship recipients will be notified by May 2020.

Competitive applicants should be a continuing student with a 3.0 GPA or higher, show commitment to the university community through on-campus and/or off-campus involvement, and exhibit Terp pride. In order to be eligible, applicants must plan to attend the University of Maryland in the academic year following selection.

Bright Futures Scholarship

The Bright Futures 'Unpaid Internship' Scholarship awards students with need-based scholarships ranging from $250-$1,250 to help offset expenses incurred during unpaid internships. EPIC Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship

The Energy Policy Institute at Chicago (EPIC) invites applications for the Summer 2020 Research Fellowship. An interdisciplinary research and training center at the University of Chicago, EPIC is contributing innovative solutions to the global energy challenge: how can we ensure that people around the world, today and in the future, have access to reliable, affordable energy needed for human development without putting our health, environment and climate at risk? Previous results from EPIC projects have been influential with policymakers worldwide and featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and other leading publications.

Successful candidates will report to Michael Greenstone, Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago and the Director of EPIC. Responsibilities span all stages of research, including managing projects, collecting and analyzing data, creating presentations, and editing manuscripts. Typical research projects involve the analysis of environmental and energy data from the United States, India, China, and other countries utilizing quasi-experimental and experimental methods, as well as development of computational economic models of energy markets.

Applicants must be in their penultimate year of study and have strong quantitative and programming skills. Candidates with research experience are strongly preferred, especially those with experience programming in Stata, R, Python or Matlab. The ideal candidate would work for EPIC for around ten weeks before returning to school. EPIC offers competitive salary and employee benefits. Homeland Security Internship

Homeland Security Investigations Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is the largest investigative agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

HSI’s workforce includes special agents, intelligence research specialists, technical enforcement officers, computer forensics analysts, seized property specialists, auditors, and administrative staff. Student Volunteer Internship HSI recruits interns from a wide variety of educational backgrounds, including criminal justice, business and public administration, computer science, and engineering.

The Student Volunteer Internship provides unpaid opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, who want to develop their professional skills, exposure to law enforcement, and explore career paths within HSI.

The Fall 2020 program will take place in Baltimore, MD. Students must have transportation.
