Paid Internship-to-Analyst Position at RosettiStar

RosettiStarr, a corporate intelligence, investigations and security consulting firm based in Bethesda, MD, is hiring for its summer 2024 internship to analyst program.

  • The internship is in-person and full-time, Mon.-Fri., 9-5 in Bethesda, MD. We typically do two summer sessions, one in June and one in July, exact dates TBD.
  • The goal of the program is to train individuals in research, public records, writing and analysis with the intent of converting interns into full-time analysts at the end of the summer. They will consider anyone graduating in spring 2024, undergrad or Master's.

Info Challenge 2024 📣 Student Registration is Open!

From February 24–March 2, 2024, the INFO College will be hosting the annual UMD Info Challenge, where students from across UMD and the State of Maryland come together to solve real-world information challenges and win prizes! Participants gain valuable team-building and resume-building skills, and have the opportunity to network with top companies.

The theme of Info Challenge 2024 is “The Data of Global Change” and will offer challenges in data analytics, design, security, and project management (new for IC24!). No prior data analysis experience is needed! Student participants will work in person with their teams on kick-off day, then work remotely throughout the week, and present their final projects in person to a panel of judges on March 2. The day will end with a Showcase Event where teams will show off their final projects to friends, family, and other information enthusiasts, followed by the IC24 Awards Ceremony.

Opportunity Insights Predoctoral Fellowships

Location: Cambridge, MA

Opportunity Insights (OI) is hiring several fellows for their predoctoral program beginning in July 2024. These full-time positions will be based in Cambridge, MA. Predoctoral fellows will work closely with Raj Chetty (Harvard), John Friedman (Brown), Nathan Hendren (MIT), and other OI collaborators at Harvard and other universities.

The predoctoral fellowship is geared toward students interested in working for two years after graduating from an undergraduate or master’s program. Predoctoral fellows will work on research and analyses related to economic mobility. Additionally, predoctoral fellows have opportunities to participate in seminars and other research activities in a team-oriented lab environment. The program serves as a good bridge between college and graduate school for students interested in applied economics and mobility scholarship. The Spring application deadline is Thursday, February 8, 2024.

We particularly encourage applications from groups traditionally under-represented in Economics. Even if applicants are uncertain whether their technical research skills or subject-matter knowledge will be competitive, we strongly encourage their application.

Functional Purpose

Economics Interns will apply their knowledge and understanding of related principles and practices gained from their program of study to support an assigned project. Project opportunities will focus on sourcing, collecting, and analyzing data to identify
trends and analyze financial or operational performance, statistical analysis, and strategic planning. 

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for this program all applicants must have earned at least 48 credit hours towards a bachelors degree, and be currently enrolled in either a bachelors or graduate degree program with a college or university accredited by a national or regional accreditation organization recognized and sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Collaborates with manager to review project plans; develops an understanding of project assignment including goals, tasks, deadlines and key stakeholders. Communicates updates and project developments as needed.
  2.  Applies economic principles, practices, and methodologies to assigned project; develops project-related materials using economic theories and applications. Prepares project summary and recommendations for review.
  3. Develops documents, files and deliverables as needed for the project. Writes instructions, records activities and verifies accuracy and comprehensiveness of information with stakeholders.
  4. Coordinates with coworkers as a team member to support achievement of project goals. Interacts via email, telephone and meetings to support the project and team
  5. Assists with preparing and facilitating meetings, working sessions and focus groups as necessary to gather and compile information for the project.
  6.  Researches, collects, and analyzes data for use in project planning and developing project materials and documents.
  7.  Creates project deliverables to meet assignment objectives. Compiles data and reports. Assembles information into presentations. Documents research and activities in technical reports.

The Expanding Diversity in Economics Summer Institute (EDE) is accepting applications for its 2024 program now through Monday, Jan. 15, 2024. EDE is a University of Chicago program hosted by the Becker Friedman Institute for Economics (BFI) and the Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy at Brookings, designed to identify and support talented undergraduate students from a broad range of backgrounds interested in the study of economics.

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural week of programming in Washington, DC, EDE will again send students to study current issues in fiscal and monetary policies and the people and institutions who make them. We are excited to have the DC week hosted once more by the Hutchins Center, whose mission is to improve the quality and efficacy of fiscal and monetary policies and the public’s understanding of them.

Newly Launched - Amazon's Economist Apprenticeship Program




Amazon Economics is launching a new 2-year Economics Apprenticeship Program. This is an exciting new opportunity for undergrads or Masters students to learn in a fast-paced cutting edge environment. This new program is similar to Econ Research Assistant positions at the Fed, think tanks, and research labs with additional focus on dataset construction in big data environments, cloud computing environments and machine learning.
