The Borgen Project - Political Affairs Internship

This is a part-time 12-hours per week telecommuting internship. The internship is 4 months and responsible for leading public and political outreach in the state and district assigned to. Must be available Monday’s 4:30-6:00 PM PST for The Borgen Project’s national conference call.

Language Learning and Cognition Study Looking for Paid Participants

¿Estudias el español? ¡Participa en un estudio! 

The Language Learning and Cognition Study is recruiting participants!  Participate in 14 sessions of 1-2 hours each at the Patapsco building (a short walk from College Park Metro, accessible by Shuttle #104).

You will be asked to complete cognitive tasks and questionnaires, as well as training tasks on an iPad.

OMSE Now Hiring ECON Tutor!

OMSE Tutors support the mission of the office by providing tutorial services to multiethnic undergraduate students in various academic disciplines. Tutors, hired for both their knowledge and ability to communicate, work with students to identify problem areas and misconceptions about the course material, provide frequent feedback, and work towards creating self-motivated, independent students.
 
The position is designed to enable tutees to better comprehend lower level required courses and to support the successful academic development of program participants. Tutors serve as OMSE ambassadors, and demonstrate academic proficiency in their respective areas of tutoring. Training workshops are held during the semester to prepare you for tutoring situations, and to gain valuable transferable skills that will help you in other aspects of your personal and professional life.
 
Qualifications:
  • Earned a grade of A in course(s) wanting to tutor and took the course(s) at The University of Maryland, College Park
  • Must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be an enrolled UMD undergraduate or graduate student

The Office of Economic Policy, U.S. Treasury Department, is currently looking for college students interested in Economics, Finance, or Public Policy for our FALL 2014 internship program. Our program runs year round with three sessions: January through May, May through August, and September through December. Our program is about substance. Interns are generally assigned both a long-term research project as well as a multitude of smaller projects. They are also expected to attend Congressional Hearings, think tank lectures, and presentations, and to summarize these events for the Assistant Secretary and other senior level economists. Candidates should have strong writing skills and be well organized, highly motivated, and able to work independently. Interns are expected to work between 32 and 40 hours a week. There is some flexibility in the work hours if you are taking classes while in D.C. Though our intern positions are unpaid, we do provide a subway subsidy to help defray commuting expenses.
