Category Analyst Overview: As a Category Analyst, you'll be a critical part of our growing business, owning category performance, onboarding vendor partners and driving strategic projects forward. You'll combine your business acumen and analytical abilities to create the best experience with the products our customers want.

What You’ll Do:
  • Onboard vendor partners to maximize assortment selection and product category sales
  • Conduct market research and monitor industry trends to ensure Chewy's competitive edge within the marketplace
  • Analyze category and customer experience data to understand root causes and develop strategic recommendations
  • Lead strategic projects and develop process improvements to improve efficiency and performance of the team
  • Work cross-functionally with supply chain, private label, finance, catalog and product teams

International Data and Research Fellowship for Recent Grad with the National Wildlife Federation Headquarters

We are seeking a Data and Research Fellow to join our International Program in Washington, D.C. (Due to COVID-19 all employees are working remotely until we make return to work decisions).
The Fellow will provide data analysis and research support for projects focused on advancing sustainable business practices among major international companies involved in the production, sourcing and financing of agricultural commodities. This position is part of NWF’s fellowship program. NWF Fellows must be available to work a 40-hour weekly schedule. This 11-month position offers $16.00 per hour plus core benefits. 

Research Associate Position Available for Recent Graduates

Economists Incorporated (EI), a leading economic consulting firm, has openings for Research Associate positions commencing immediately in its Washington, DC and San Francisco, CA offices. The Research Associate position is typically for two to four years, depending on EI’s case needs and Research Associate interest.

EI Research Associates have the opportunity to work directly with Ph.D. economists from top universities on a variety of high-profile cases concerning antitrust litigation, mergers and acquisitions, government regulation of the private sector, and general commercial litigation. Data Analysis

  • Analyze industry participants and characteristics affecting market competition
  • Calculate cost and damages estimates
Research
  • Consult with clients and private sources to obtain necessary data
  • Investigate industries and companies using online and government resources
  • Review litigation and case documents
EI Research Associates are generally outstanding graduates from top colleges and universities with bachelor’s degrees in economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, finance, or a related field. Prospective candidates must possess a strong academic record, excellent analytical and quantitative skills, and the ability to work effectively in teams. Experience with Microsoft Excel and one or more data analysis programs (such as Stata, SAS, R, or Python) is required. CARES Act Funding available

The University of Maryland is encouraging eligible students facing financial distress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic’s disruption of university operations to apply for assistance through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Students who wish to apply must fill out the application and provide a statement about how the COVID-19 situation and the disruption of campus operations resulted in financial hardship. 
 
To complete the application, log in to the financial aid portal. Eligible students may use the funds for expenses such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care. Detailed eligibility requirements can be found on the Financial Aid Office website.

Eligible students who already received the UMD CARES Act Emergency Financial Aid Grant based on their 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and are still experiencing financial distress caused by the COVID-19 campus disruption can also complete the application for additional emergency financial aid grant consideration.

Summer Volunteer Opportunity

The Latino Student Fund’s Tutoring Program is seeking volunteer tutors for our virtual Summer tutoring program and believe students could make a difference in the lives of children in our community.

The Latino Student Fund’s Tutoring Program provides free support and academic assistance to Washington metropolitan area students to ensure their academic success. We aim to close the achievement gap by offering individualized tutoring to support students from PreK through 12th grade in math and reading.

We will be offering a virtual summer tutoring program from June 22nd to July 31st between 12 pm and 3 pm on weekdays. Tutors can volunteer for as many or as few sessions as they would like. We will provide all of the materials for students to work on during their tutoring sessions.

Security Exchange Commission: Economic and Risk Analysis Internship

Apply for a Fall 2020 internship at the SEC’s Division of Economic and Risk Analysis (DERA).

DERA’s internship program offers participants extensive training, mentorship, and carefully crafted project placements at the intersection of agency research needs and students’ discipline-specific interests. In addition to becoming familiar with the financial regulatory ecosystem, the rule-making process for securities markets, and various functions of the SEC, students get to work on challenging projects such as producing analysis to support ongoing rule making or litigation of enforcement actions.

Federal Housing Finance Agency: Economist Job Opening

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) is an independent federal agency established by the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (HERA) to build a better secondary mortgage market.

FHFA is currently responsible for the oversight of the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae), the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac), and the Federal Home Loan Bank System, which includes the 11 Banks. FHFA’s mission is to ensure the safety and soundness of those regulated entities to serve as a reliable source of liquidity and funding for housing finance and community investments.

Master of Science in Applied ECON: Information Session

University of Maryland's Master of Science in Applied Economics will be hosting an online Information Session on Thursday, June 4th, at 6:45 PM EDT.

The session will be a WebEx Meeting, and will last about 1 hour. During the session we will give a presentation and field questions, which online participants can submit via the WebEx Meeting chat window.
