How you’ll contribute:
The Health Policy Center analyzes trends and underlying causes of changes in health insurance coverage, access to care, and use of health care services by the entire U.S. population. Researchers address issues that arise from the inevitable trade-offs among health care costs, access, and quality. The center's focus has been on Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance markets and health care reform.
The Health Policy Center summer intern will support research and technical assistance projects related to promoting health equity. Project work will focus on the role of the community and of health IT in promoting COVID-19 vaccination and substance use services.
Responsibilities:
- Review and summarize literature and other documents
- Assist with project management
- Participate in internal research team meetings and support meetings with external stakeholders
- Assist with scheduling and notetaking for internal and external meetings
- Support the development of written products
- Other tasks as assigned
The successful candidate will:
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in public policy, political science, economics, public affairs, public health or a health-related field
- Have a strong desire to engage and learn about one or more of the following topics: health policy, health care delivery, public health, and health equity
- Have experience working with community-based organizations
- Possess excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Have experience conducting primary and secondary research
- Have strong organizational skills
- Be detail-oriented
- 10-week program designed to provide students interested in research, public policy issues, and organizational operations with rewarding and substantive work assignments that contribute to Urban’s mission
- Intern Program Dates: June 7th, 2021 – August 13th, 2021
- Participate in our New Intern “Welcome” Orientation
- Network with Operations Staff, Senior Professionals, and others who will support your professional growth and career interests
- Participate in intern specific workshops and networking events designed to advance your professional development and build your soft skills
- Engage in team-building activities that forge new friendships with other Urban Interns
- Receive informal feedback and mentoring from your intern manager
- Present the value of your contribution and what you learned during our End of Summer Lightning Talks
