Time: 11:00 am to noon. Office Hours: noon to 2

Meet with employers excited to work with ECON majors. Learn about potential jobs and job or internship search strategies. If you are considering the federal government, this event is for you!

Employers will also host office hours after the event so if you'd like to learn more and connect with the employer one-on-one, you have the opportunity to do so. You can also get feedback on your federal resume and advice on how to land that federal job!

ECON alumni will also attend to tell you about their career paths and answer any questions that you have.

Commitment

Students accepted into the program must commit 1.5 hours per week for the duration of the 12-week program, which includes attendance at weekly training sessions and participation in a team case study (marketing challenge). All sessions will be conducted via Zoom. Program Scholars are also expected to commit time outside of the program sessions to work with their team members on the case study project.

Students accepted into the program will be required to attend a virtual kickoff summit at the beginning of the program and a virtual graduation ceremony at the end of the program. Specific dates and times will be outlined at a later date. Please note that the NielsenIQ University Program may make optional, in-person engagements available to Program Scholars throughout the duration of the program. Any travel outside of the university campus will be organized by NielsenIQ.

TLTC is recruiting peer leaders for 2023-2024 Academic Year

 

The Math Success Program provides free, drop-in math coaching services to all students during the Fall and Spring semesters.  Math Coaches support students in most math or math-based UMD courses.

Math Coaches are facilitators of learning; assigned to work individually with a small group of students. Math Coaches may also be assigned to co-facilitate learning with another Math Coach.  Together, these Math Coaches may support 2 -3 small groups of students. 

The Math Success Program operates virtually on Sundays evenings from 6 PM - 9 PM and in person Monday through Thursday evenings from 6 PM - 9 PM in the Edward St. John Building (ESJ) on campus. Math Coaches earn $15 per hour work at least 2 shifts (6 - 9 hours per week).

Qualifications

This position is open to University of Maryland students who:

  • Are in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater.
  • Have completed the core math requirements at the University of Maryland, at minimum, including Math 140/141 or equivalent and received a A - or better in these courses.
  • Can pass a university judicial check.
  • Will be registered at Maryland as a full-time student for the 2023-2024 academic year.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills and foster collaboration.
  • Relate well to a wide variety of individuals and groups.
  • Manage time effectively and execute roles and responsibilities.

Paid Revenue Operations Intern at DraftKings!

The DFS Revenue Operations team is focused on utilizing data to design contest mixes that optimize revenue for the business. We also work with our promotions, VIP, and CRM teams to understand the various cohorts of our customer base and the kinds of games and programs they respond to. In this role you will assist us in our efforts to bring the best daily fantasy product to our users and help drive results and growth for the business.

What you’ll do as a Revenue Operations Intern:

  • Design daily contest mixes that maximize revenue.
  • Utilize data to identify trends that influence future performance.
  • Contest creation and on-site merchandising.
  • Identify and implement testing plans to improve contest mix performance.
  • Contribute to the promotions roadmap for your sports.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for: -Currently attending a 4-year university or college to earn a degree in a quantitative field: Math, Statistics, Analytics, Business, Economics, Computer Science or related. - Passion for sports, particularly fantasy sports. - Comfortable in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. - Experience with Excel required. SQL, Snowflake, or other database querying experience a plus. - Prior analytics experience, either academic or in another professional environment.

Panelists will engage in discussion around their experiences being out at work, including conversations around the benefits and limitations experienced by sharing identity in the workplace. Panelists will join us from a variety of settings, including higher education, STEM, consulting, and advocacy-based industries, among others. The second part of this program will also allow for panelists and participants to network and continue conversations around these important topics. Join Career Services professionals, LGBTQ+ professionals, students, and others in the UMD community as we address these important topics related to being out at work.

$3K Summer Stipend - Do Good Accelerator Fellows

Are you a current UMD student working on a social impact project?

If so, applications are now being accepted for the Summer '23 cohort of Do Good Accelerator Fellows.

 

The application deadline is April 9.

 

The Summer '23 Accelerator Fellows program consists of an 8 week program, designed to support students where it's most needed as you work to increase your community impact.

 

The Do Good Summer Fellows Program provides students:

  • Space to work and build your social impact project/venture
  • Resources including a $3,000 stipend
  • Opportunities to explore, test, and scale up project initiatives.

 

The ideal student for this program is one whose project is in the implementation phase. Summer Fellows are required to work at the Do Good Accelerator for a minimum of 8 hours and two days each week.

 

Important Dates:

  • April 9: Application closes
  • April 21: Fellows notified of program acceptance
  • June 5: Program begins
  • July 28: Program ends

Volunteers For Maryland Day 2023

Volunteers for Maryland Day 2023 needed!

Join the Department of Economics as we celebrate 25 years of Maryland Day on April 29, 2023 10am-4pm! It’s a great way for the community to see just what we do at the University of Maryland. Students, faculty, and staff welcome learners of all ages to campus for a day full of fun and engaging activities.

We need volunteers to help lead our department's activities. As in years prior, we will conduct a risk aversion game that rewards players with candy.

Volunteers can staff the table in 2-hour shifts, between 10am and 4pm on April 29, 2023. Volunteers get a t-shirt and an exciting day of connecting with our local community members.

NABE Scholars Program

Applications are now being collected for the 2023 NABE Scholars Program. This program, launched three years ago by The NABE Foundation and the NABE Diversity and Inclusion Committee, provides access to valuable learning and networking opportunities for diverse and underrepresented early-career economists and students interested in pursuing a career in applied economics.

This year's cohort of 20 NABE Scholars will receive complimentary registration to the following:
· 2023 NABE Foundation Economic Measurement Seminar (July 17-18, Washington, DC)
· 2023 NABE Annual Meeting (October 8-10, Dallas, TX)
· 2023 NABE Tech Economics Conference (November 8-10, Santa Clara, CA)
· 2024 NABE Economic Policy Conference (February 14-16, Washington, DC)
· one Certified Business Economist (CBE) course of their choice

In addition, each Scholar will be awarded a total travel stipend of $400 and a one-year complimentary NABE membership.
