Role Purpose
The primary objective is to assist in the update of our coal supply services for the Americas. This will include collecting data and research material, updating GEM files, drafting parts of our company and mine analyses and help with the overview sections. The CSS intern will also be asked to help with various data requests from clients and other internal stakeholders using our mine database and Spotfire application. He/she will also undertake a range of ad-hoc activities to assist in the internal development of coal supply analysis and the execution of our research activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and data gathering for Americas coal supply services
- Draft portion of our written analysis as needed
- Update GEM asset files as instructed by lead analyst
- Update the mine database and generate data from the database as needed
Competencies
- Knowledge of coal mining industry including costing
- Strong communication skills (Written and Oral)
- Problem solving / analytical / critical thinking skills
- Strong database skills (including writing queries in MS Access)
- Self-motivated and accountable
- Organizational skills and team working
Qualifications
Preferred Majors: Economics; Mining Engineering; Computer Engineering.
Time commitment: Between 30-40 hours per week throughout the summer period.
