The Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the largest component of the Executive Office of the President (EOP), serves the President in implementing policies across the Executive Branch. OMB carries out its mission through multiple processes, including managing the development and execution of the President’s Budget. The budget process is the primary mechanism through which decisions about resource allocation are made, in areas ranging from economic recovery to health care to energy to national security. The Office of Economic Policy (EP) supports the Director's Office, OMB's budget divisions, and OMB's statutory offices by analyzing and modeling the economy, the Federal government's finances, and individual programs, and by providing technical expertise in finance, statistics, and economics.
We are looking for a quantitatively inclined student for an unpaid internship. The intern will work primarily with the OMB’s chief economist but may also be asked to assist other economists in the division.
Duties may include:
·         Compiling quantitative data from multiple sources
·         Producing tables and graphs; computing summary statistics
·         Research, such as:
o   Summarizing articles/papers/legislation
o   Searching news articles or the congressional record
o   Pulling together information from various sources
(e.g., budget options related to a certain topic)
·         Administrative support (e.g., scheduling meetings, tracking documents)

Qualifications:
·         U.S. citizen
·         Currently enrolled as a student
·         Must pass drug test
·         Proficient in Excel
·         Strong economics background (e.g., graduate student, public policy student, advanced undergraduate student)
Logistics:
·         10-20 hours a week
·         Work in downtown DC location (near Farragut West Metro)
