International Development and Civil Society Internship with the Hudson Institute

DESCRIPTION

Hudson Institute's Center for Global Prosperity's internship program is an exciting opportunity to research and write on an array of issues related to civil society, international development, philanthropy, remittances, and international health. Interns will write for the Center's blog, “Blogal Prosperity,” conduct research and analyze data on different international development issues, and play an integral role in the publication of the Index of Global Philanthropy and Remittances.

CGP interns have gone on to work for the World Bank, the United States Institute of Peace, the U.S. Department of State, the Peace Corps, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Gates Foundation, the Academy for Educational Development, the Koch Foundation, Booz Allen Hamilton, GlobalGiving.com, the Catholic Diocese and the Whitaker Group.

Responsibilities include:
• Researching international philanthropy, civil society laws, and international development;
• Writing blog entries for the Center's WordPress blog and updating social media pages;
• Assisting with media communications and distribution plans;
• Editing content for the forthcoming 2016 Index of Global Philanthropy and Remittances;
• Assisting staff with research projects and presentations;
• Attending and representing the Center at events in Washington DC;
• Assisting with administrative tasks, event planning, and execution.

QUALIFICATIONS

CGP interns are self-starters with a strong interest in the generation of economic growth in the developing world. Candidates should be able to work independently and as part of a team, manage their time wisely, and meet deadlines. Candidates must be reliable, professional, and possess excellent writing, research, communication, and interpersonal skills. Graduate students familiar with the current scholarly discourse on remittances and/or migration will receive additional consideration. Candidates should be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and be willing to work at least three days a week from 10-4.
