Register Now for the 2018 College Fiscal Challenge!

The College Fiscal Challenge is an academic competition that requires students to design and defend a long-term U.S. federal budget that puts the United States on a fiscally sustainable path. This year's competition marks our 5th annual event, and we are excited to see teams from many different schools entering the competition.

Building on five successful competitions, this year's Fiscal Challenge has added new exciting elements to better engage students, deepening understanding of the U.S. federal budget and the economic implications of various policy choices going forward. In particular, we will have:

1) A webinar with Matt Jensen from the American Enterprise Institute in March about TaxBrain, a platform for accessing open-source tax models

2) Ongoing insights via a weekly email that will provide tools, research on proposals, and more

3) Presentation support from a DC policy consulting firm Winners not only get the pride of being national Fiscal Challenge champions but will also receive a cash prize and unique networking opportunities with DC think tanks.

How It Works
Students from schools across the country form a team. That team builds out a budget proposal and submits it to our review board made up of economists studying these issues. If your proposal is selected, you will compete in the finals in April and present to a board of judges for a chance to be the national champions. The registration deadline is April 5th, 2018, and the final competition is in mid-April.
