Externship Experience: Economic and Financial Consulting

THE EXTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE

The consulting staff at Cornerstone Research’s Washington, D.C. office will be sponsoring this one-day event. Participants will gain firsthand experience in financial and economic consulting through an interactive case study led by current analysts. Analysts will teach participants the basics of Microsoft Excel for economic consulting casework and introduce valuation techniques and statistical analyses frequently performed by analysts in their work. Participants will also meet with managers and officers with a wide variety of industry experiences to discuss career and graduate school options, as well as the internship and full time opportunities at Cornerstone Research.

The externship program is open to current sophomores (graduating between December 2020 and June 2021), and will be held on Thursday, April 25th. The program will run from 9:30 AM until 6:00 PM.

HOW TO APPLY

To apply, please submit your resume, transcript, and a brief cover letter explaining your interest in economic consulting and the externship program to Cornerstone Research's posting on Careers4Terps by 11:59 PM on Sunday, April 14th. ABOUT CORNERSTONE RESEARCH

Cornerstone Research is a leading economic and financial consulting firm specializing in the analysis of complex economic, financial, accounting, and marketing issues that arise in the context of various kinds of litigation. We may be asked to predict the effect of a merger of two major high-tech firms on prices and innovation, to determine the effect of unfavorable drug test results on the stock price of a leading pharmaceutical company, or to value patented smartphone technology that might have been infringed.

Analysts are well prepared for a range of opportunities during their time at Cornerstone Research. Approximately three-quarters of Cornerstone Research analysts choose to pursue advanced degrees—most often MBAs, JDs, and PhDs at top graduate programs such as Harvard Business School, Stanford Law School, and the University of Chicago. In addition, many Cornerstone Research analysts proceed directly to careers in technology, business, finance, research, consulting or nonprofit work.
