Break Through Tech DC at UMD facilitates opportunities for students to kickstart their career in tech. Here are ways you can join us:
- Apply for Summer Guild – UMD students will learn how to code real-world, mission-driven applications. Guild will take place virtually August 2–6, 2021, and August 9–13, 2021. Applications are open now and close on July 2. There is no cost to participate and students receive a $150 stipend for participating. Learn more and apply.
- Take an Intro Computing Course – Take our new 3-credit course, CMSC 125: Introduction to Computing, and spend the semester exploring computing majors at UMD and tech careers while getting experience with computing concepts and hands-on coding.
- Are you already planning to take CMSC 131, INST 126, or another computing course? Add the 1-credit course, CMSC 100/INST 101: Bits and Bytes of Computer and Information Sciences, to your schedule and explore the different computing majors at UMD while learning more about the university.
- Join our Community – Connect with other women at UMD interested in computing careers. Through peer and alumni mentoring, career workshops, networking events, and more, grow your network on campus and with professionals working in tech. Learn more.
- Apply for a Sprinternship® – Grow your resume with this three-week, paid mini-internship experience in tech during Winter Break. Students tackle a business challenge with a host company, participate in a series of career development workshops, and strengthen their professional network. Applications open in September.
