Research Assistant Opportunities at AEI

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) is seeking full-time, in-person research assistants to work with senior economists. AEI economists study a wide variety of economic policy issues related to the US economy, tax policy, international finance, political economy, financial services, and health care. The anticipated start date for these positions is summer 2024.

Responsibilities include supporting research through managing, retrieving, and analyzing data; editing and contributing to scholarly papers, articles, op-eds, and books; creating and formatting charts, graphic displays, and tables; and writing literature reviews and background reports using national and international publications.

Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in economics and public policy and experience using economic methodologies, acquiring data from official sources, analyzing large datasets, and using statistical programs—preferably Stata. A strong math or statistics background is required, and coursework in linear algebra, multivariable calculus, and econometrics is strongly preferred.

AEI offers a stimulating and harmonious work environment and excellent benefits. Interested candidates should submit their resume, a cover letter demonstrating their interest in AEI’s mission and work, unofficial academic transcripts, and a writing sample with their online application.
