Two Paid Community Research Fellowships in Prince George's County

Fellowship Overview
We're hiring part-time Community Fellows for a project focusing on the Black experience in the DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) region. This work will uncover the long history of discriminatory policies and their multigenerational impact on communities. The final report will include historical documentation, calls to action, and policy recommendations for regional implementation.

We're looking for candidates with lived experience, community connections, and relevant skills in the DMV. Fellows will work 20 hours per week from May 2024 to December 2025, based in DC, Montgomery County, Prince George's County, Arlington, Alexandria, or Fairfax. Evening and weekend work may be required for community events.

Compensation & Benefits
- $3,250/month
- Work equipment (laptop, tablet, supplies)
- $100/month transportation stipend

Policy/History Research Community Fellow
Core Competencies
  • Expertise in relevant U.S. policy areas
  • Experience designing and conducting archival research
  • Track record of leveraging data to develop policy recommendations
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research, analysis, and reporting abilities, including working with Census data
  • Excellent documentation and report writing skills for public audiences
Responsibilities
  • Design and carry out full-scale community-engaged research projects
  • Gather and analyze data to inform contemporary policy
  • Produce timely, accurate reports for teams and clients
  • Collaborate with team to support culturally responsive, equitable research and evaluation
  • Develop relevant content and maintain understanding of project issues
Community Advocacy Fellow
Core Competencies
  • Lived experience with advocacy and social policy issues related to racial equity in the DMV
  • Experience with DC, MOCO, and/or PG County community organizations in housing, education, employment, transportation, health, environment, and/or civil rights
  • Skilled in developing strategy and policy recommendations
  • Experience organizing and leading community outreach events
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for community engagement
Responsibilities
  • Leverage relationships with key community advocates and organizations
  • Organize community and funder information sharing sessions
  • Support development of recommendations to meet project goals
  • Assist team with urgent matters as needed
