Unpaid Summer Research Opportunity with a National Non-Profit Organization

The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) is a national non-profit organization that helps low-income households achieve a healthier standard of living by addressing the environmental health concerns in their homes. GHHI is committed to the creation of resources, programs, and policies to prevent childhood lead poisoning and home-based environmental health hazards. GHHI works in collaboration with families, community organizations, educators, government agencies, insurers, property owners, and health care providers to construct real, attainable and cost-effective means to create lead-safe and healthy homes.

Currently, we are recruiting students to be research associates to help compile data and do research on the resources Maryland has to tackle these environmental health challenges. This research will be conducted through the GHHI Summer Research Institute and will take place between June 2, 2015 and August 11, 2015.

The research associate position at 2015 GHHI Summer Research Institute is a part-time, unpaid, volunteer summer research opportunity conducted from the comfort of your home. This project aims to open source information to aid local nonprofits and legislators in their fight to improve the state of healthy housing in Baltimore.

Our mission is to utilize the amazing research capacity of undergraduates across the country to collect this information. We are able to accomplish this by communicating via webinars and utilizing pre-formatted and very prescriptive excel spreadsheets which allow information to be collected in a universal template. We are looking for students from any background, and no previous experience is required.

The information that is collected will be published in an online Wikipedia-style Healthy Housing Database that allows us to open source this information exponentially across the country and allow for other student groups and professionals to update and expand this research.

By the end of the summer, you'll have partaken in a new publication, contributed to a national website, learned about environmental health, and helped low-income families in their fight to improve their standard of health!
