Federal Work Study (FWS) Business Office Job at STAMP

Position Title: Business Office Support Clerk

Position Description:

The STAMP Mission:

To provide a safe and inviting campus center where all UMD students, alumni, faculty,
staff, and community members cultivate lifelong relationships founded on engagement,
learning, multiculturalism, and citizenship.

What You Will Learn:

All student employees within Stamp will be part of STAMP GROW starting Fall 2019.
Our GROW employment program uses brief, structured conversations between student
employees and their supervisors to help students connect the skills and knowledge they
are gaining in the classroom with their on-campus employment and co-curricular
experiences. Although your job in Stamp may not be directly related to your future
profession, the skills you learn here will help you in your chosen career path and give
you valuable work experience to strengthen your resume. You will learn to provide
customer service that is positive, interpersonal, informative, professional, and
solution-orientated. In addition, you can expect to learn skills such as critical thinking,
time management, interpersonal communication, working with people from diverse
backgrounds and working as part of a team.

The Support Clerk will report to our Business Office in the day to day operations of the
Stamp. The position will require a 5-10 hour per week commitment to assist with Stamp
Business services. This position will include fiscal management, business processing and technology-related tasks. Business, Economics, or Computer Science students are encouraged to apply.

Duties:

● Data entry into programs such as Excel and Smartsheet
● Help develop Business Office Support Clerk manual and training materials
● Filing materials into the appropriate cabinets/folders
● Tabulating cash deposits
● Pre-auditing purchasing logs
● Updating financial resource pages as needed
● Mail collection
● Other duties as assigned

Skills Required:

● Ability to follow instructions
● Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff without direct supervision
● Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
● Excellent organizational skills
● Friendly and outgoing
● Written and verbal communication
● Computer literacy

Preferences:

● Experience with Google Suite, Smartsheets
● Availability to work on-site Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays between 9am and 5pm
● Ability to work a minimum of three hours per shift

FEDERAL WORK STUDY (FWS) STUDENT.
