Internship (Fall or Spring Part-Time)

 Established in 1974, the Solar Energy Industries Association is the national trade association of the solar energy industry. Through advocacy and education, SEIA is working to build a strong solar industry to power America. As the voice of the industry, SEIA works with its 1,000 members to make solar a mainstream and significant energy source by expanding markets, removing market barriers, strengthening the industry and educating the public on the benefits of solar energy. Internship Description: SEIA State Affairs seeks 2 (1 legal and 1 undergrad or grad student) qualified, motivated interns to assist with its state outreach effort. The ideal candidates will be available 20-40 hours per week, demonstrate an interest in energy and environmental policy, and possess strong writing and research skills. Candidates should also have an understanding of the legislative process, keep up with current events, and have the ability to multitask in a fast‐paced environment. Computer literacy (online research, familiarity with Word, Excel, etc.) is essential. Those with a legal background can be expected to assist on regulatory filings and proceedings. State affairs Interns at SEIA will have the opportunity to be a part of a fast-paced, high-energy government affairs team and participate in state advocacy efforts on behalf of the solar energy industry.

Experiences Offered:

• Tracking critical regulatory and legislative activity for specific states
• Participating in weekly state committee calls with SEIA members
• Drafting advocacy materials, such as state fact sheets, policy statements, and testimony
• Legislative, regulatory, economic, and policy research
• Grassroots coordination
• Member communication

Academic Majors: Graduate and Undergraduate students in political science/government, legal, economics, environmental studies or other related field.

Compensation: A transportation stipend is available.
