Enclude Ltd. - Analyst, Inclusive Finance

Enclude’s Inclusive Finance (IF) practice delivers advisory services to commercial banks, non-bank financial institutions, microfinance institutions and other intermediaries that seek to expand the financial products or services available to underbanked markets, including small business, microenterprise, and low- and moderate-income households. Enclude’s IF practice brings an integrated approach to helping its clients create profitable new business lines catering to traditionally underserved markets. Enclude’s financial institution clients are located primarily in emerging markets in Africa, Asia and Latin America, as well as Eastern Europe. The IF practice is focused on providing end-to-end solutions drawing from deep practitioner-based technical expertise in the areas of financial institutions, household finance, products & technology innovation, as well as cross-cutting expertise in focus areas such as the female economy, youth, ag and value chain finance, clean energy finance, and more. Reflective of the broader Enclude approach, IF works in a closely integrated way with other Enclude practices and business lines to deliver innovative solutions to support our clients and partners, drawing upon diverse and complementary areas of technical expertise.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Analyst in the IF practice will contribute to business building, knowledge management and project administration to achieve revenue goals, deliver high quality services and outcomes to clients, and to broaden personal knowledge and experience to begin developing a technical expertise. The Analyst’s primary practice area will be Inclusive Finance, but he/she will be expected to work with other practices as needed, on business building and project support assignments.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Business Building

• Assist in writing proposals, EOIs and concept notes, assembling required information and preparing visually appealing, high quality and competitive submissions
• Capture, archive and share all research products and documentation created in the pursuit of specific opportunities
• Maintain current business building data and resources such as: updating pipeline database; formatting CVs; entering and maintaining contacts in SalesForce; assembling materials and documentation for pipeline calls;
• Attend internal and external workshops, industry events and client meetings to learn, network, and market Enclude; capture notes and actions steps, and draft presentations for others to use in business building activities
• Under direction of Human and Intellectual Capital Director, assist in production or updating of marketing materials, presentations, case studies, web and social media content
Knowledge Management and Systemization
• Maintain and update systematized tools to improve quality and efficiency
• Manage assigned content areas on the intranet and in Google Docs knowledge archives, ensuring that all project reports, proposals, CVs, PPRs, case studies, presentations, models, trainings, articles, tools and other documentation are captured and appropriately stored
• Enter and update contact information on SalesForce, keeping data and contact history current
• Draft, edit, format, and assemble briefing materials for the Board of Directors and other meetings
• Contribute actively to company-wide initiatives to improve systems, processes, communication and knowledge sharing, as assigned
• Assess, categorize and/or extract internal learnings; draft internal and external case studies and thought leadership papers under direction of others
• Research and map market trends, best practices and other subjects for the company’s internal use

Project Implementation and Execution

• Assist project managers in administrative tasks to increase their efficiency, effectiveness and the project’s success. Duties may include assisting in the following:

o Monitoring budgets, ensuring invoices are submitted weekly
o Drafting reports to clients and donors
o Monitoring compliance with client, donor and company requirements
o Maintaining project calendar and deliverables schedule
o Coordinating project kick-off activities
o Preparing regular project updates
o Reviewing and improving on all project deliverables
o Data mining activities including data cleaning and preparation
o Ensuring that project communication plans are followed
o Fielding of international consultants, developing scopes of work, contracting, and support of field-based consultants
o Coordinating, reviewing for quality control and finalization of written deliverables for client review
o Collecting and recording data on project and client outcomes

• Under the direction of project managers, support delivery of consulting services, contributing to production of high quality deliverables, on time, and building positive relationships with clients and donor organizations. Duties may include:

o Assisting in on-site institutional or market assessments
o Mapping existing systems or processes at client sites
o Analyzing data from projects and assessments
o Drafting written deliverables, preparing client presentations
o Conducting desk or field research, evaluations or impact assessment
o Preparing draft financial analyses
o Assembling training materials

Qualifications
Candidate must already have appropriate US work authorization.

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree; up to 2 years relevant experience
o Field-based live/work experience in a developing country of at least 6 months

Professional Skills

• Strong writing skills, with ability to write for different audiences and confidence to edit the work of others
• Facility with Excel, including formulas, formatting and data manipulation
• Knowledge of basic financial analysis (able to read and interpret balance sheets, profit and loss statements, etc.)
• Aptitude for quantitative as well as qualitative analysis, with ability to quickly synthesize information from multiple sources to develop conclusions, recommendations or a clear story
• Strong presentations skills, both verbally and in writing, including demonstrated ability to create clear, compelling documents, client deliverables and PowerPoint presentations
• Proven ability to solve problems independently, asking good questions as needed, and to work flexibly within a team, taking ownership for assignments
• Commitment to pursuing a career in inclusive finance and/or sustainable economic development
• Familiar with players, issues and approaches in development, especially in respect to inclusive finance, sustainable growth and enterprise development
