Career Counseling Services @ University Counseling Center

Majors Walk-In

For students who are not sure about their choice of academic major and/or career direction and want to get started. Wednesdays, 1-3pm through December 3rd (except Nov. 26).

Work with a counselor and use state-of –the-art software to discover majors and careers that are suited to you. No appointment necessary. Plan to spend at least 30 minutes; once oriented, you can continue your process from your own computer.*

*NOTE: Remote access is temporarily unavailable, but we expect to have this situation resolved in just a few weeks. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and encourage students to return to Majors Walk-In for assistance in the interim.
Individual career counseling

Choosing a major and/or a career direction after graduation can sometimes feel overwhelming with so many options to choose from.
  • What are the majors/careers that are best for me?
  • What if people important to me think I should do something that I’m not sure I want to do?
  • I thought I chose the “right” major/career, but now I’m struggling in my classes and finding it hard to keep motivated.
Meeting with a professional counselor to get guidance and support can help turn your academic and career concerns into excitement and direction. Career assessments and learning about other resources to help you make these important decisions are often part of meeting with your counselor.

If you would like to meet with a counselor, please call us at 301-314-7651 to schedule an “intake” or first appointment.

Career Discovery Zone workshops. Thursdays 3:30-5:00pm beginning Oct. 1st

Open to any student, this 5-session workshop series is being offered twice this semester. Topics change weekly. Meet others who, like you, are also thinking about their majors and/or career futures. Students may come to one or any/all of workshops. No pre-registration is required, however students are requested to be present for the full 1.5 hours.
