The Maryland - Washington, D.C. chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network is looking for a graduate Chapter Fellow to support chapter activities. The Fellow will be responsible for a number of duties, noted below, for approximately 20 hours per semester. Most hours are flexible and remote. The Fellow will receive a $1000 stipend in two installments (January and June), and would start as soon as possible and work until at least May 30, 2024.
The Scholars Strategy Network connects journalists, policymakers, and civic leaders with America’s top researchers to improve policy and strengthen democracy. SSN is a network of over 1600 university-based scholars organized in nearly 40 regional chapters across the United States who are working to advance the use of research and evidence wherever policy decisions are made. The Maryland - Washington, D.C. SSN chapter is focused on state and local policy and is co-led by Nora Gordon, Jaime Lee, and Elizabeth Rigby. Learn more about SSN at www.scholars.org.
Job Responsibilities: Among other tasks, the Maryland - Washington, D.C. SSN Chapter Fellow will:
- build and manage databases of potential new members and contacts in media, policy, and civic organizations;
- track public engagement of members and write one short chapter newsletter per semester; and
- assist with planning 2-3 events per year.
- a graduate student with at least two years remaining before graduation or an undergraduate student who is currently a junior;
- responsible, organized, and attentive to detail;
- familiar with/willing to learn Google forms, Canva, and social media; and
- a self-starter.
