Morgan Stanley Baltimore: 2017 Technology Summer Analyst Program - Cyber Security
Summer Internship, Co-op (Fall or Spring Full-Time)
Morgan Stanley — Baltimore , Maryland

Apply through Careers4Terps (https://careers.umd.edu/careers4terps) to be considered for an on-campus interview! Resume submission end date: Feb 24, 2017, 11:59 PM

Summer Analysts (10–14 weeks) and Co-ops (4 months) are recruited and placed into a specific software development, cyber security, or threat analysis team. These programs are designed to offer a real-world, project-based experience of what it’s like to be an information technologist for a top financial Firm.

Summer Analysts and Co-ops will participate in an induction day that provides an overview of the Firm, followed by direct placement into their teams. In addition to working on a live project, program highlights include senior management networking events, technical demonstrations, team-building opportunities and participation in the Firm’s community service initiatives. This is an extraordinary opportunity to work with world-class cyber experts, most of whom have extensive government and private sector experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Development Teams: Our development teams design, develop and maintain applications used by cyber security experts. Daily activities include team meetings to analyze recent threat reporting and develop defensive analytic strategies. They make system design decisions, evaluating, integrating and developing necessary software, and then test and deploy applications. Developing high-performing, low-latency collection and processing systems tuned to emerging cyber threats are just some of the projects available for developers.
  • Cyber Security Teams: Our cyber security experts monitor the Firm’s networks, computing hardware, operating systems, databases, mobile platforms and other end-user applications for adversarial cyber activity. They engage in both active “hunting” on the network and passive monitoring of data feeds to detect anomalous behavior. Defending all facets of a modern IT enterprise with broad scope and scale encompasses the opportunities available for cyber security practitioners in our organizations.
  • Threat Analysis Teams: Our threat analyst teams collect, analyze, and document current and emerging cyber threats. They apply their technical knowledge to forecast how these threats may expose or create vulnerabilities in Firm applications. Team members analyze both public and private data feeds, provide input to risk assessments, and assist in the development of countermeasures. Threat Analysts work closely with Technology process owners to document vulnerabilities and track solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS

  • You have a cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
  • You possess excellent problem-solving, communication, teamwork and analytical skills.
  • Experience in the financial services sector is not required.
  • Development/Cyber Security: You must be studying towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Software Engineering or other related technical majors. Superior technical skills, including a strong understanding of Linux /Unix and Windows, competency in at least one programming language (e.g., C, C++, Python, Java or C#), good comprehension of data structures, algorithms and complexity theory, strong database and scripting skills.
  • Threat Analyst: You must be studying towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering or other related major with a keen interest cyber security especially as it pertains to the financial services industry, along with documenting IT solution requirements (business, functional and/or technical), and strong technical knowledge.
