Paid Summer Internship with the International Executive Service Corps

The International Executive Service Corps (IESC) has a summer internship opportunity available for a youth intern, a cross-cutting function that supports the organization across departments. The intern will be paid $11.50 per hour. The successful applicant must be able to commit to up 20 hours per week.

IESC is a private, not-for-profit organization that promotes economic growth in developing countries by supporting the development of private enterprises, business support organizations and public institutions. To better serve the beneficiaries of IESC’s work, research will be performed on obtaining expertise regarding women and youth in development. IESC seeks to apply integrated solutions for youth throughout our programming to promote inclusive economic growth for our beneficiaries.

IESC’s internship program is open to students in graduate and undergraduate programs. Students that have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program within 6 months of applying are eligible for the internship. Previous internship(s) and/or professional work experience preferred. Strong research and writing skills, and an ability to work independently are needed.

Location: Washington, D.C.

Duties:
  • Conduct youth research and analysis for new business proposals and/or ongoing projects as needed.
  • Maintain the youth resource library and help develop tools and templates to support IESC’s youth and workforce development work.
  • Facilitate or arrange organization-wide learning sessions on youth issues in international development.
  • Contribute to IESC’s youth strategy development
  • Develop methodologies for quantifying youth in project profiles.
  • Serve as an integral member of the IESC Gender and Youth Committee and provide a range of support to program staff
  • Contribute to IESC’s internal and external communications around youth
  • Stay informed and up-to-date about youth trends across the industry—strategy, methods, communications and outreach—and document and share that research and knowledge.
  • Monitor funding opportunities, current development projects, and outside events involving youth.
  • Attend selected outside learning events and prepare and share notes for IESC staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
