About the MA in Economics

Stony Brook University’s MA in Economics enables students to earn a degree from one of the most respected public universities in the nation. This program prepares students for a wide variety of careers in the growing field of economics. For students entering the field for the first time, the program offers training and credentials to launch their careers; for those already working in the field, the program enhances their skills and credentials. Admission Requirements

Students in the MA program come from numerous academic backgrounds, including a variety of undergraduate majors in the arts and sciences. Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), must have taken algebra and calculus courses, must have taken the Graduate Record Examination or equivalent, and must submit three letters of recommendation from instructors, academic advisors or employers.
